Ian Baggley - Bio

Ian was born in 1971 and is a Toronto based Portrait Artist. His formal training was at the Toronto School of Art where he gravitated to figurative drawing and painting.

He was awarded both the Barbara Barrett and the Matthew David Stein Scholarships.

Since then, Ian has immersed himself in the history and methods of the Old Masters and contemporary painters to continue the tradition and mystery of the portrait.

Ian’s life experiences are mixed on the palette with the oil paint and then channeled through the brush to create deeply honest and emotional portraits.

His works hang across Canada, United States, and Europe.

Ian is also a recognized fantasy illustrator, musician, husband, and father.
